Licking River Clean Up CITO Event

Licking River
Clean Up
CITO Event (GC4EJAR)
http://coord.info/GC4EJAR
St. Louisville, Ohio
September 7th, 2013 8am – 1pm
A chance to have some wet and wild fun, and to make a difference in a wonderful little community as well!
We’ll “officially” kick things off at 8am and wrap things up at 1pm, but you’re welcome to join us at any time and help for as long as you can stay.
This event is in conjunction with the Licking County Soil & Water Conservation “Licking River Roundup”, and the first 150 people to pre-register for the event will receive a free T-Shirt! (UPDATE: Looks like the T-Shirts have all been distributed)
YOU MUST SIGN A WAIVER OF LIABILITY to participate in this event. The forms will be available on site the morning of the event, but can also be downloaded at:
We’ll be meeting at the St. Louisville Community Center (at the posted coordinates) and heading over to the North Railroad Bridge to start our clean-up effort. We’ll follow along the banks of that section of the river (about a 1 mile section), to wrap things up once we reach the South Railroad Bridge (both bridges are listed below under “additional waypoints”) and head back to the Community Center.
Bring some OLD clothes, gloves, and some water shoes/fivefinger shoes/old shoes (they will get wet). It should be a great time!
And for those aquaphobians, there’s plenty of areas on the banks to clean up if you prefer to remain (mainly) dry.
A .KML track file of the path (including some nearby geocaches) can be downloaded HERE: RiverCleanUp.KML

Adventures In Geocaching!
by team_monkeyboy • • 0 Comments
Join us for “Adventures in Geocaching” with the Licking Parks District
Saturday, August 3rd, 2013
at the Infirmary Mound – Granville, Ohio
1:00pm
We need LOTS and LOTS of geocachers to help us out!! “Actual” geocachers will be placing containers and creating temporary hides in the park’s 316 acres from 1:00p-3:30p.
The public (mostly local girl scouts and cub scouts) will arrive at 3:30pm, get a brief “this is geocaching 101” tutorial, and get paired up into small groups with the geocachers to find all of the containers that were hidden earlier.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the event.
This will be LOTS of fun!!! We’ve worked with the local scouts teaching geocaching for the past few years, and the kids are AWESOME!! Very eager to learn and to have fun!
We have no idea how many to expect (of either cachers or visitors), but obviously we need as many GPS units as possible (and experienced owners thereof) to make this work… my biggest fear is that I will end up performing solo for a massive group of muggles (grin).
SPREAD THE WORD to all of the local cachers and caching groups you know, as well as any non-cachers that may be interested. The event flyer for visiting non-geocachers can be downloaded here… http://tinyurl.com/
For more information, visit the cache description page on Geocaching.com at http://coord.info/GC4EZ5P.

Monthly Licking Area Meet & Greets resume
by team_monkeyboy • • 0 Comments
Following last year’s successful experimentation with holding monthly meet & greets in the Licking County area, the tradition is continuing!
The first event of 2013 will be held Thursday, March 28th from 6:30-9:00pm at the East West Restaurant in Heath, Ohio:
Licking Area Meet-n-Greet Year 2:Electric Boogaloo
GC4784J
Same cachers / same great taste… come gather for some conversation, caterwauling, and crab rangoon! We’re trying out the last Thursday of each month for a while.
Nothing fancy, just a chance to get together and have fun, share stories, trade trackables, give hints (?), or maybe group-attack a puzzle or two!
ALL are welcome – young and old, caching newbies and seasoned veterans alike.
This restaurant offers both a Chinese and American menu, with many choices of both (and a buffet).
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!
